Great is Thy Faithfulness

“The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. ‘The Lord is my portions,’ says my soul, ‘ therefore I will hope in him.’”
Lamentations 3:22-24

I don’t know about you, but the days I need encouragement outweigh the days I don’t. In today’s climate it’s easy to get caught up in the negativity, the anger, and the stress. It affects everyone!! I watch as my first grade niece has to battle the craziness of virtual school while already being behind educationally. I watch as my daughter has to do virtual physical therapy and doesn’t understand what’s being asked of her. I watch the fear from those around me whenever there’s a COVID scare. I watch as my brothers and sisters are being shot down in cold blood because of the color of their skin. I watch as those who call themselves Christians tear apart their brothers and sisters in Christ… OVER A POLITICIAN. It’s hurtful and it’s harmful and it doesn’t fix anything!

The thing we need to focus on is not who’s in office, who’s around you, or who’s saying what to whom… it’s the “steadfast love of the Lord” that “NEVER CEASES“!!!

How amazing is it that “his mercies NEVER COME TO AN END“?! Isn’t that a wonderful promise? That no matter what you’re dealing with in the moment you find yourself in, his mercies are “new every morning”.

It’s so hard to focus on the good, we’re sinful creatures that like to be angry. There’s something deep within us that likes to focus on the negative and argue with those around us, no matter how damning it is. I don’t agree with most people’s stances on a lot of things that are happening around us, but the arguing and the debating on Facebook is sickening. It hurts my heart to see my fellow brothers and sisters in Christ causing dissension and driving these wedges between them! We were called to love, regardless of anyone’s political beliefs.

THE LORD IS MY PORTION,” says my soul, “THEREFORE I WILL HOPE IN HIM.”

I refuse to be apart of the arguing and debating. I will love anyone that comes in my presence and I will hope in my God. For the things that are here will not last. We have a promise of a better future, a future that includes the everlasting love of our Lord and Savior. Great is his faithfulness, great are his mercies, steadfast is his love. Let’s cling to that today as we all navigate the uncertain waters of 2021… and for the love of everything holy, stop the hate and start loving your neighbors. Because last time I read my Bible, that was the second greatest commandment. Love is non-negotiable.

I hope that 2021 will be different in a lot of ways, but my biggest prayer is that the church sees a revival unlike anything we could ever imagine. That people of all races, denomination, and political party will join together and worship our Lord. Pray that with me and join along side me as we combat the evil that is prevalent in our world today.

With Light and Love,

Lissie
