God Says: Momma Affirmation 2

We’re on to our second affirmation in our 10 week series!

I am mentoring my children

“Start children off on the way they should go, and even when they are old they will not turn from it.”
– Proverbs 22:6

So, this verse is ALSO used for another affirmation, so we’ll be seeing it again. I think this affirmation is very important for Mommas to understand. We are charged with making sure that our children are taught the Glory of our Lord Jesus Christ. It’s my personal opinion that the reason why God gives us children is so that we can show them the right way they should go.

What does this look like?

Great question. I don’t know without a shadow of a doubt what it looks like, but I can tell you what I believe that God has shown me.

I believe that mentoring my child in the way she should go looks like prayer, singing silly songs about candles and Father Abraham, reading stories that explain the Bible with silly humor; it’s nursery/Sunday School and making her excited about going to church, it’s praying with my husband and showing her that a good relationship is built on God’s grace and mercy. It’s living my life worthy of the calling that God has set before me, even when I don’t feel like it.

Shew! That’s a lot!! It’s overwhelming. It’s a big job and it’s not always easy. Especially in the world that we find ourselves in. Our children will be attacked with terrible images and be exposed to horrible ideals, and we can only just pray that we’ve given them the tools to survive this crooked and depraved generation.

I pray that my life can be an example for the way my daughter can go, I’m a messed up sinner that has made countless mistakes in her life. I pray that Georgia can see past those mistakes and see that my relationship with God, no matter how rocky, is one of the most important things in my life.

I hope this affirmation speaks something to you today. Take it, write it down, post it some place you can see it. Meditate on it and ask God to show you what he desires for your life.

With Light and Love,
