You Are What You Eat

I know, I know… I’m on a cheesy title roll this week. You still love me, right? Seeing as I haven’t done a Self Care Sunday post in awhile I thought I’d do one that speaks directly to me. So if you’ll excuse me, I have a very important conversation I need to have with Elisabeth… um, me.

Elisabeth Ann,

Girlfriend, please take a moment and listen. You feel that? You feel that tiredness and grouchy-ness that is radiating from your tummy? Yea, that bloated and gross feeling? That’s because you eat too many carbs. You are worth more than that piece of bread! You’re worth more than that candy bar. In FACT!! Your body needs you to stop.

You have a beautiful little girl who needs her momma to be happy and healthy. She needs you to chase her around the park and dance with her to Disney songs and teach her how to shoot a basketball or throw a ball. But if you keep going the way that you’re going, you’re either going to be too fat to do any of that, or you’re going to be dead.

THIS IS YOUR WAKE UP CALL!!! Your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit and God is begging you to step up and clean up his temple. I know it’s hard. But we both know that God won’t give you more than you can handle because “You can do ALL THINGS through Christ who strengthens you.” How many time have you told other people this very thing? It’s time for you to focus on your health and wellbeing… especially if you want more children.

I know you love ice cream and baking delicious cookies and cakes, but is that really going to make you happy in the long run? I say, no. Don’t you want to take Christmas pictures and not cry because of how you look in them? Wouldn’t it be nice for you to be able to carry your little girl up the stairs without feeling like you’re going to die? THESE ARE YOUR MOTIVATORS!!!

You’re taking the right steps in the right direction, you just need to continue to push yourself to be better. You have the strength to do this because you have GOD on your side. Don’t allow the stresses of your life to dictate what you eat. Because you’re not good at that. Get outside and move, think about how much better you feel when you go for those walks. It’s not rocket science and doesn’t take a lot of thought.

You are worth more than what you eat. You are worth more than what you weight. This isn’t about being skinny, this about being healthy and being the BEST version of you that there is. You can do this. You have to do this. I believe in you.



I’m not sure if anyone else needed those reminders in their life, but I know that I do. It’s hard being overweight and it’s hard losing weight.
