God Says: Affirmation 7

Affirmation

I am leading my children to their Savior.

“Jesus said, ‘Let the little children come to me and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.’”
~Matthew 19:14

I am so distracted today. I’m exhausted. Raising kids is hard!! I’m sure most of us has been there, where the kids have utilized all energy you could possibly have and then some.

There’s a saying that I love: You might be the only Jesus people see. Our lives should immolate that of Christ Jesus so that we can love those who are unlovable, pray for those who are hurting, and be a light in the middle of the darkness our world has been plunged in.

These actions, coupled with our everlasting love of our children is a way for us show our children the love, mercy, and grace our Savior shows us. This is how we can lead our children to our savior without really trying.

For me, showing my kids their Savior involves discipline that points us back to our Lord Jesus Christ. One of the girls that we have right now is struggling with lying. It’s silly stuff, too. Like telling us she didn’t do something before we find out that something happened. I feel like all she does is lies and it’s hard to actually know the truth. I try to explain to her that lying is bad and that it hurts Jesus’ feelings. It’s probably not theological in any way, shape, or form, but I don’t know ho w else to explain it to her.

I’m leading them to God. I need them to know the everlasting love of their God and their Savior. Who better to show them than me?

As a mom, I’m charged with making sure my children get as much God in their lives as I can before they grow into independent adults and can make their own decisions about God. It’s scary to me to have so much responsibility, but I don’t take the responsibility lightly. It’s important to me that my kids know who God is and why God loves them so much. I pray that the lessons we teach them during their childhood lasts through their adulthood.

I hope that this affirmation speaks to you and that you learned something today. Take it, write it down, and put it where you can see it. And as always, please let me know how I can be praying for you.

With Light and Love,

Lissie
