God Says: Momma Affirmation 3

I am an unwavering support and encouragement to my children.

“She sets about her work vigorously; her arms are strong for her tasks.”
~Proverbs 31:17

I’m not a theologian by any stretch of the imagination. I don’t always have the answers and honestly, sometimes things don’t really add up when I start to brainstorm blog posts. Proverbs 31 is both an encouragement and a struggle for me as a mom. This Proverbs 31 woman is both scary and #goals. We see her a few times during this series…

So what does this verse mean to me?

I love schedules. I’m not very good at keeping up with them, but I love to make them! It’s the thought that counts, right? But seriously, I try so hard to keep a schedule. I’m a stay at home mom so I view “my job” as taking care of our house and family. I strive to have a clean house and I strive to have a daughter that is fed, loved, and learning. You can log onto YouTube and watch these essential oils moms that post there “Daily Schedule” and it’s perfect. Don’t get me wrong, I like essential oils and I think they have a great place in everyones lives… but if you have a pain in your kidneys, please for the love of Christ, go see a doctor. You can’t just SLAP on some evergreen oils on your fingertips and heal certain things. Seriously, use your common sense.

I want to be “that mom”. That mom that has it all together. That wears actual clothing and not just yoga pants and her husbands tee shirts. That mom that puts on a full face of makeup, cleans her whole house, and writes a book all before her kids wake up in the morning. I want to lose 20 pounds overnight and be sent free things… ok, now I’m off track.

I want to have an amazing schedule, so that I can feel like I’ve accomplished something and that I’ve worked hard at. When you come off of being a #BossBabe where you’re not just a full time worker but you’re a manager in charge of certain things, becoming a stay at home mom is difficult. For years I lived my life off of my accomplishments as a leader. I had sales metrics that I had to meet, I had people I had to train, I had managers to impress, I had all of these responsibilities that I prided myself on. That was my identity for a LONG TIME!!! But that wasn’t God’s plan for my life… at least right now.

My job, right now, as a mom is to raise my daughter the way God has directed me to. My job is to make sure I create a home for my husband and daughter that is filled with worship, laughter, and love.

And that’s what this affirmation means to me. I’m tasked with creating an environment for Georgia that is supportive and encouraging and that starts with me. My “work” is raising my kid and working on my home and making sure my relationship with God and my husband is solid. She’s watching me and I hope that she sees a mom that works HARD for her and wants her to succeed. We’ve dealt with so many health and developmental stresses with Georgia in her short amount of time that it becomes overwhelming sometimes. The way we handle it, however, is the way Georgia is going to handle any issues that she comes in contact with as she grows and I pray that she will ALWAYS know that I love, support, and encourage her in everything.

This is a little rambling, but I pray that there’s something in here that speaks to you. Take this affirmation, write it down and post it somewhere. Meditate on it and allow God to speak to you today.

With Light and Love,

  1. I needed this affirmation more than I can say…thank you for posting this. I can relate SO hard to loving the creation of schedules but having a hard time following them. I want so hard to have it all together, sometimes I lose sight of the little wins that are more important.
